Louisiana Tech Visit Recap

Jakalen Sheffield (5'10", 170), a standout cornerback out of Kilgore High School in Texas, recently made a trip to Ruston, LA, where he was welcomed with open arms by the Louisiana Tech coaching staff. The visit gave him a firsthand look at the program’s facilities, and he connected with the team and coaches on a personal level.

“My visit to Louisiana Tech went great,” said Sheffield. “I like the facility and the location. The coaches were cool and it’s like a big family down there.”

By the end of the visit, Sheffield had a strong feeling about the future of Louisiana Tech football. That impression was solidified when the Bulldogs offered him a scholarship, the first offer in his college recruitment.

UTSA Offers

Within hours of his time in Ruston concluding, Sheffield picked up his second offer from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). The Roadrunners have been a staple of consistency under Head Coach Jeff Traylor with bowl appearances in each of the last five seasons. Sheffield said receiving the offer from UTSA was “a crazy feeling”.

Sheffield’s impressive foot quickness and ball skills have made him a standout player, and it’s no surprise that Division 1 offers are beginning to roll in. His ability to cover ground quickly and make plays on the ball has caught the attention of top programs, setting the stage for an exciting summer and senior season ahead.

The 5 Star Football Recruiting Effect

Sheffield recently joined 5 Star Football Recruiting under the guidance of Coach Isaac Hadac, and he credits this move with the recent surge in his recruitment.

“The amount of exposure and connections has been a big factor in my recruitment” stated Sheffield.
